In Search Of. . . Observations: Things that Inspire Me

In Search Of. . . Observations: Things that Inspire me

I hate it when someone asks me this question and I just stare at them, entirely confused.

 It just seems so ambiguous.
Are people asking if I look at this one thing, and suddenly I'm inspired. Nope, doesn't work that way for me.
My brain decides when it's inspired.
For me it's mostly things that lend themselves to situations and remind me of characters or things.

A couple of things inspire me to write.
Dreams. Literally, sometimes I wish I could record my dreams. My brain tells me some great stories.
Music.
Books. Some of the best sources of inspiration.
Shows I really like.
Sometimes art, but not the weird abstract stuff. More classical things.

For me, writing is a process. It's work. Unfortunately inspiration has less to do with it than just plain old elbow grease. Yes, you do get the occasional stroke of genius, but that only lasts so long. Sometimes you have to get through that bad spot. You know the one when you go back and read it again and ask yourself did a three year old write this? No, because he would have done a better job.
That phase.

This quote is the unfortunate truth.

I do have a few life inspirations.

It's really dumb, but I want to be like Jessica Fletcher, Angela Lansbury's character from the old tv show, "Murder, She Wrote." She always handled everything with grace and poise. I would love to be that graceful,  I'm so far from that it's not even funny, but see the above quote as to why I'm not there

Sometimes I get inspired by fitness and beauty.
The number on the scale and fitting into my clothes inspires me a lot.

So, those are the things that inspire me, loosely. Inspiration doesn't really do anyone any good if they don't apply it to their hard work.

In Search Of. . . Observations: 10 Lessons Learned

I feel like this is better suite for a blog that has more notoriety than mine, but oh well. It's all right.

1. I hate being the same as other people.
2. I can sing like the mice on Cinderella. No Joke.
3. The first story I wrote was based on the Movie Cats.
4. I watch the Labyrinth when I'm sad.
5. I also shop when I'm sad, but I don't buy things.
6. I don't have a favorite color.
7. I do hate the color orange.
8. I've walked the Via DelaRosa.
9. I had three cats.
10. I used to have a Southern accent.

In Search Of. . . Observations: 7 Lessons Learned

This actually is supposed to be seven lessons learned this year, but I think that doing lessons I've learned over the years.

1. Be on Time. It's not just about you.
2. Don't chase him. If he's not interested don't waste your life.
3. Always try to make yourself better.
4. You can say no. It doesn't make you a bad person to not stop your life for everyone else.
5. Work at your craft.
6. Learn to curb your spending habits.
7. Eating at home saves money and helps you loose weight.

In Search Of. . . Observation: 6 Pet Peeves

Pet Peeves. It's such a weird word. Unless your my mom and it's Pettee. (She doesn't hear very well.)
It's basically something that annoys or bothers a person very much, according to Merriam-Webster.com. It didn't have a word history, only that people started using it in 1919.

Anyway, nearly everyone has at least a dozen of pet peeves. I was only called to list six. So in order of least to greatest here are my pet peeves.
6. Open Shower Curtains.
This one is irrational, but I don't like looking at the shower for some reason. Maybe because I've always had decorative shower curtains and a messy shower. Not dirty, but I always seem to have four half used shampoo and conditioners around. Three body washes.. You know the works. Why I have all this stuff I have no clue, but I must hide it.
5. Following to Closely
This is my biggest driving pet peeve. I live in a world of wackadoodle people who really shouldn't have their licenses. I can't count how many times I've seen people go down the wrong side of the road. I have to put my blinker on a while before I turn so people will speed up so I can't get in front of them.
I ignore all those things. Because that's how people are here, but do not follow me. I will not go any faster, just because you're riding my bumper. I will kindly go exactly the speed limit.
4. Bad Grammar
Now, I think this has more to do with my line of work and less to do with an actual peeve. I'm not talking about written grammar. (Although, when people misspell curse words it makes me mad. If it has to come into my view, at least do it right.)
I'm talking about native English speakers slaughtering the language.
3. When people ask me if I colored my hair.
I don't know why it bothers me so much, because yes, I color my hair to the color of my roots. I guess I'm sensitive about it.
2. Make up Shaming.
Honestly, I don't see why it should be shameful for girls to wear makeup. I really don't. Granted if they look like Mimi from the Drew Carry Show, or maybe wear as much as Tammy Fae Baker, they might want to tone it down. But it's their make up.
If a girl feels insecure themselves and they want to wear make up because it makes them feel better. Let them. There are days when I feel like I look like something the cat threw up and I want my make. Then there are days when I don't care, and I don't wear any.
No girl should feel badly for wearing makeup. Ever.
1. When people talk to me like I'm a 5 year old.
This will make me angry. I'm not five. I'm not stupid. I'm a fully grown intelligent adult with a fair amount of life experience. It takes all of my Christian self control not to hit someone when they act like that.
It doesn't happen much around girls, but guys have a tendency to treat me like I'm five. I don't like it. At all.

I don't really like this post. It's kind of a rant, rather than a post. So I'll just stop there.

In Search Of. . . . Observations: Meaning Behind the Blog's Name

In Search Of. . . . Observations: Meaning Behind the Blog's Name

All right, so this one isn't going to be a long one.
My blog is called In Search Of... because I didn't want to narrow myself down to one thing.

Having such a broad title allows me to do things outside of just the name of my blog. I had originally planned to call it Wanderlust, but I felt like that was more of a travel blog. Which this obviously is not. So In Search Of... Plus it sounded really catchy with my tag "I hope you find what you're searching for."
So that's it, the big secret of how I picked my blog name.

Wow, that's boring and short.

And really Boring. So let's make it less boring. Here, look at these pretty sunset pictures I took.

There those make things instantly more interesting. Yay. I know one of them is Texas and the other three Arizona. Where else do you get sunsets like that.

In Search Of. . . Beauty and Style: Outfit of the Day

In Search Of. . . Beauty and Style: Outfit of the Day

All right, so I've obviously never done one of these before. It's an outfit of the day. I hope you guys can at least tolerate it.
If you read the previous post about my goals, I talked about fixing this skirt up. Here it is all done. Originally, the skirt was a dress that just didn't fit me on top, even when I was super thin. I'd got it from TJ Maxx because look at that beautiful pattern. Then I sewed a crinoline into it, so it would have a vintage feel. The juniors size 5/6 prom dress that made the crinoline came from Ross. I made the head band. I don't remember where the white shirt came from. Probably Wet Seal and the blue heels are from Cato's.

These are my accessories. Shoes and a head band because I don't wear much jewelry any more except my peridot ring.

This a little bow I made from extra fabric from my skirt.  it was my fur humans outfit of the day and she hated every last second that she wore it.

Here's the head band both alone and in my hair. It was an old one that my mom had left lying around. I grabbed it and covered it with the extra fabric.

That's it for clothes.
Here's a couple of shots of my makeup.
I have this huge Ulta pallet that I got for Christmas years ago and no matter how much I want to buy a new one I can't bring myself to do it. Because it has almost any color I could want.

If you care to know what I'm wearing its:
It's Covergirl Ready, Set, Gorgeous in color 110 Creamy Natural
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed powder Sandstorm.
the Elf Golden Bronzer little four color shimmer square for highlight, bronzer, and contour
Some highlight and concealer from Makeup Forever
The middle color from the Covergirl instant cheekbones for blush
NYC Smooch over Nars Satin Lip Pencil Rikugien on the lips I got for being a semaphore member.
Prestige Natural Arch Brow powder in light to medium
Elizabeth Mott Queen of the Fill it Medium Dark That I got from my Ipsy bag
They're Real Mascara from Benefit I got free at Ulta from a sampler promotion.
The rest are from that Ulta pallet
 Truffle as the transition shade
Sapphire in the crease
Bayou on the lid.
Dark Denim as the liner
Blue waters under the eye

Wow that's a lot of information.
Ok, well that's everything.  Let me know what you think If I had too many pictures or not enough or what.

In Search Of. . . Observations: October Goals

In Search Of. . . Observations: October Goals

Ok... so goals... things I want to accomplish. . .
I go through phases with goals, where I want to accomplish everything and carpe that diem. Then I go through phases where my accomplishment is eating a whole box of Cheeze-its.
It's all about balance right?
I think I'm on the Carpe Diem kick right now. But I do have a few goals for this month.

Life Goals
Go see Ransom Riggs.
Go to the Pacific ocean.
Get through the next 13 weeks of my associates degree.
Work on videography skills which are incredibly lacking.

Writing Goals
Finish typing up the first draft of my novel from
Write.
Expand the Blog to include some videos and DIY.
Keep up with this daily writing challenge
Submit for publication
Edit chapter two of the collaboration

Other Random Goals
Refinish desk.
Finish painting
Finish remaking skirt
Make curtains and pillows for living room

Health/Beauty Goals
Reach a goal weight.
Maintain goal weight.
Do one full unassisted chin up-- Because that's better than my current number of 0
Cut back soda to one or two a week.
Drink more water.
 Eat better.

So... I'll try to mark some of them off as they get done. It seems a bit ambitious, but if you make a big to do list it can carry over. Wish me luck.
Maybe a little sense too.
As Always,

In Search Of. . . Written Words: Thankfulness

In Search Of. . . Written Words: Thankfulness

So, I'm having a hard time writing this. Every thing sounds so cliche in my brain. You know at Thanksgiving, when the teacher goes around and asks all the kids what they're thankful for. My family my parents, God.

You know the general list. I wanted something a little deeper than that. Obviously I'm thankful for those things, but they're so general.

I want to take this moment though and be thankful for God's providence. He seems to align things perfectly. It may not be the way I want it to happen, but it's all right. It all works out in the end. I get exactly what I need.
The job I have. Granted, it wouldn't be my first choice; it's a phone job, but it has provided me with everything I need. It pays my bills, lets me buy things I want. It's given me time off and money to go on trips around America and even one out of the country. It's been steady work, in such an unsteady climate.

I'm thankful that series of events, both good and bad landed me with two cars. God, in his providence saw that I would need two. He also saw that I had mechanics for Uncles who are willing to help me provided I buy parts. I wish I could explain how much cheaper that is.

I guess, all in all, I'm thankful for God's forethought and providence in my life.
I know I don't have a charmed life? Who does? But it's a good life. Even when I'm down and low, I have to recognize that.

As always,

In Search Of. . . Written Word: October Daily Blogging Challenge

In Search Of. . . Written Words: October Daily Blogging Challenge

So, I don't want this to become solely about coffee and moping around. I was looking for a photo challenge to do for fall and I came across this blogging challenge. It seems like a good variety of ideas from the blog

Obviously some of the days will be off because this one is for last year. Maybe I'll get around to making up a new one with these themes that match this month. *I did go ahead and fix it up. These will be the themes that the days follow, at least they should. I took the original attribution off just to keep from confusing people, but you can see it here at Girlmeetsworld.com

I hope I can keep up with the challenge. I'm certainly going to give it a go.
I'm going to leave it that because I'm outside at work and the sprinklers are getting me wet.
